Our Story!
Landon Friesen (Owner of Urban yard) and his wife Jody have been married since 2008 and have 3 biological kids and one wonderful foster son. They love spending time together going for walks, fishing, hiking, playing games, reading and having family movie nights. Their lives changed drastically spring of 2020 when Landon’s job was a casualty of Covid and He was laid off in March. Not being one to sit around, He immediately got started thinking about starting his own business, something He had dreamed of doing for many years!
Starting with yard care was an easy transition, with 10 years of landscaping experience and 4 years of managing a large camp facility here in Manitoba, it was a natural fit. So in April of 2020 Urban Yard was born with the goal of providing quality yard care for commercial and residential clients in the Southeast corner of Manitoba. With the support of friends, family and the wonderful people of southeast Manitoba Urban Yard has been able to continue to grow!
Starting 2023 we decided to focus soley on landscaping and have given up yard maintenance. This freed us up to focus on training our staff, and working on our systems and procedures so that we can provide a consistant quality experience for our clients!

Our company started with the goal of being easy to work with and to provide quality yard care for the South East. Three years into business and this continues to be what we strive for as Urban Yard grows and develops into a well known and trusted company.
When asked what was the biggest thing he learned through the first year, Landon said "The importance of receiving feedback from the client. I understand that the client has expectations of what they are going to receive from our service and sometimes things are misunderstood or simply missed. We are building systems into our business to do what we can to mitigate those miscommunications so we can provide consistent quality work that the customer deserves. The best thing a customer can do is to communicate with us when there is something that is unsatisfactory because I can guarantee we will do what it takes to make it right.”
